ohhhh man… where to begin… where to start… It’s hard to just write about a school… a place that touched your life… your children’s lives…
Last week we had to say farewell to a family… a place we called home for both of our girl’s first school… I think it’s so hard to let go of this magical place because that’s exactly what it is…. it’s exactly what childhood should be… what school should be… it’s a place where children are respected and treated with love and treated like they are something… and not a bother…
This school is on the New College Campus so there are a lot of college students that volunteer and work for the school…
I have watched college students be so inspiring to these children… young adults treat these children like their own… Hugging is aloud… teachers tossing kids in the air… teachers running until they are out of breath… so much happy energy surrounds every ounce of this school…

yep… I pretty much had to hold my breath here…

right about here I cried like a little baby… and hid behind my camera… the love these teachers have for these children breaks my heart in half… but the amazing beginning they have will stay with them forever…

Happy Weekend Everybody!!!

I leave you with this sweet image that I took at our oldest girl’s preschool… they have an amazing mulberry tree in their garden!
Every day this spring when we pick her up she runs to the tree to gobble a few mulberries! she shares some with her sister who can’t quite reach them, and away we go…
so many of their clothes end up with mulberry purples and so do their lips… but I love it!

We leave today for the weekend… heading up to North Carolina!
We are going to my sweet friend’s cabin until Memorial Day!
Should be so much fun! I cannot wait to see spring in the mountains… hiking… waterfalls… yay!

a few more pics from waking up as a 5 year old…

paper and ribbons curled all over every which way….. the smiles and the squeals remind me of my own childhood… the wonder in their eyes is what I love to live for…..

it makes me laugh to see them both fit under this breakfast in bed tray… their little toes peeking out… I love that even though it’s one’s special day… the other wants to share it… share the happiness with their best friend.

Isabelle’s day fell on a school day and she was very excited to do just that… to be the special girl at school… to share with her friends the news that she is FIVE! At her school when one has celebration day they get to do everything first! it’s a big deal! they get to sit next to their teacher at circle time… get snack first.. get to choose which activity to play… it’s a lot of fun… and the birthday girl was glowing! maybe I was too…

they get to hold the globe and circle the candle which represents the sun… so she has gone around the sun FIVE times…!

each time she circled we would pause and share photographs from that particular year and share stories of that year… it was a little tricky to remember but it was nice to reflect…

once they are done they blow out the candle.. the sun… and it is time for a healthy treat!

Uma came along too to wish Isabelle a happy day!

at times I am at a loss for words… these sweet children leave us speechless… it happens a lot. sometimes it’s just a look they give us… I find myself getting that meltie heart feeling… and I love it so much!

have I mentioned how much I love our little girl’s preschool… ehhh probably… well I’m going to say it again… I love it! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! They’re school is located on a college campus… pretty cool huh! There are college students volunteering at the preschool… interacting with the children… the kids are constantly in the care of adults, students, eachother… it’s fantastic… their little brains must be filled to the rim with so many new and fascinating things…

they go for walks.. holding hands… looking both ways for cars… going to the college library to check out one book each… remember to return them on Wednesdays to get another book…. walking all around this gorgeous New College campus.. it’s so much to take in! I just watched the children today skipping down sidewalks giggling and I found myself thinking… what a stepping stone this is for them… then my little sweetie looks at me and says, “Mamma, I’m going to go to college here one day!” ahhhhhhhh… it’s too much! -and I’m not even going to touch on the organic garden they have at preschool on this post!

it was dress up day… so many cute costumes!

I read so many stories… pop up books… Where’s Waldo!

the children had to be quiet as “trees…” hmmm…. how quiet can a tree be……

the children then selected stickers to take around the college campus and give to the students and wish them a Happy Halloween! the students were just tickled by the little preschoolers… things like “that made my morning” were said…. they were all really really cute!

I remember walking over this exact bridge at the campus when I was a small girl just as our Isabelle (red cape) is doing….

they were so excited to share their stickers! once they ran out they got an idea to pick flowers and give them…. Happy Halloween New College!!!

when I went to say good-bye to my little girl… she looked in my eyes and said, “Mamma, I love you… thank you for coming on the walk today… ” I’m melting!
