we went blueberry picking.
What a fun adventure. It was just perfect. We set out one morning out east to a little farm. It was so quiet and still… peaceful! You could hear the bees buzzing… the breeze wooshing the trees.  My parents met us out there to fill a basket as well. The berries were just delicious! I think we ate more than we plucked but according to the farmers, that was ok. haha.
That night Cecilia told me she was so glad that Julien’s first trip was to pick blueberries… it’s something we would always remember.

That night after we made a blueberry pie, we had a big backyard fire with hooded sweatshirts and chocolate s’mores. I sat in a cozy chair and held Julien with the most beautiful view…

I mean are giant bubbles just totally the best! We could sit in our driveway for hours re-sopping up bubbles and twirling around… 

saying good-bye to a little tooth… this little girl has a sensitive heart… 

a fun day with Cecilia’s class… we made bird feeders to compliment their sweet little eco garden! Lots of paint and bird seed stuck to fingers… perfect!

We had such a fun surprise visit from Uncle Richard and Auntie Bibi the other day! So sweet to come with such fun cakes! We threw on a nice pot of coffee and dug in to these delicious and SO beautiful cakes! Love visitors! I love when visitors don’t feel they need to call ahead and arrange a visit… As long as you don’t mind a pile of laundry on the couch or dishes in the sink then it’s good for us to have company! always!

another fun visit from a sweet friend of mine from high school days! This is Thy and her sweet adorable family which we love! So glad to have them as they were in town! Great to catch up and hear all about their life…

and oh my goodness is their little girl just the sweetest!!! I’m pretty sure our girls thought she was a real life baby doll! They loved her and dressed her up like Else and hugged and squeezed her so!

I kept track this month of how many people came over… company, dinner guests, my parents, brother, neighbors, kids, friends, family… planned or surprise visit…
The rules were… if you came more than once it counted … it was per visit, per person… so pretty much every day we have a neighbor kiddo come over… so that counts…
well… do you want to know how many people stopped by…?
72 visitors came in a month!!!
That got me thinking…

We need to bake more muffins, have more coffee, and buy a roomba!

I’m pretty sure that Easter is my favorite holiday… I think I love it the most because there’s not a lot of pressure… I mean don’t get me wrong… I go back and forth… Christmas, Easter, Christmas…
Easter is fresh, new, light! I love the hyacinths at the grocery store that I have to stop to smell… which is sweeter, purple, or pink… always purple… 😉 I love the little chocolate bunny displays and the egg dying kits… glitter eggs, or tye dye… we always go traditional rainbow of course… but one day, glitter! I love how the weather feels in the spring… it reminds me of when I was pregnant for Isabelle, she was born March 3rd on the prettiest day with the prettiest sky with a gardenia flower on my night stand…
I love how around Easter all of our geraniums explode… pinks, reds, and purple! The garden is visited all day long by giant swallowtail butterflies… It’s like the whole garden knows the bunny is coming soon.. get ready!

With every holiday comes tradition… things have to be just so each year… I love how my love of tradition is wearing off on my girls… carrots for the bunny with a little note of course…. hidden baskets… chocolate eggs, fresh croissants for breakfast… it’s all beautiful and a sweet memory…

New traditions are always fun too and always open! This year a little kitty joined our family… The bunny even visited her and left her some treats…

We also got to celebrate my mother’s birthday! lots of fun! a pretty cake! Cousins hunting eggs! Just a beautiful day if you ask me…

This winter was surely full of performances… it felt like the ironing board was constantly out! It was so fun though! Lots to remember and lots to be on time for but it’s so cute sitting back and watching your children blossom on stage or in front at church… I still get butterflies … even if it’s just for them… 🙂

This fall we spent a long weekend up in North Georgia at Stone Mountain! a fun little camping trip! My parents brought their glamper and we tented it up! It was amazing! We went to the Country Living Fair which was SO great! Lots of fun artists and crafter and amazing antiques! We found so many treasures! 
Camping in the mountains in the fall was so beautiful! The leaves were changing and our girls kinda look pretty cute with their red hair with the leaves as a backdrop! ha! 
It was a nice little get-away! My parents haven’t been camping in awhile but it’s just like riding a bike… especially when you have a “glamper!” Life is pretty awesome that way! 
It was just really nice making some fun family memories together!

I can’t believe how much I love camping with my little family! There is just something so special about falling asleep like sardines and that damp air with hints of campfire and those crickets… I love the memories we take away from each and every time camping… I love the people we meet… the things we learn… 
Our girls have learned so many cool things just by camping… Camping gives them so much confidence and bravery! I mean lighting a fire with a flint stone… awesome! They are old enough now to pitch the tent all by themselves. They find the perfect flat plot and figure out which view from the front door they want… Tarp goes down… sleeping bags get unrolled. They have learned about trees and which leaves belong to which tree and what birch wood looks like compared to walnut… They know how to wash dishes in the river… and slice tomatoes with Swiss army knives. We love to decorate our sites wherever we go… always a pretty tablecloth, twinkle lights, and sometimes flowers but for sure fruits we find at little markets. We get our camping on and I feel so darn lucky to give this to our girls! Camping and giving them so much freedom and responsibilities also give me a little peace of mind… for one day they will be little women in this big world and gosh if you can camp pretty well you can do pretty much anything… 🙂

This summer we had a bit of a stay-cation to begin… It was amazing… it was just what we needed as a family… Being together, no hurries, no worries. Just kinda checking in with each other and tuning in to just that. The end of the school year was a bit of a stress field with so many pressures and stresses so many that I really cannot even begin to bore with you with… So just a few weeks of exhaling was so much needed! I mean really! Mid-summer we did go on a road trip… post coming in a bit… But the beginning of the summer was really nice for us. 
It gets quite hot here in the summer months so it’s kind of the time when we stay in doors a bit more… fans on high and air turned cool… popsicles, watermelon.. swimming pools. We did a lot of art as well… worked on water colors which the girls are getting quite good at actually. I alway find watercolors are so difficult to get the paintbrush to do what I like, especially with details…. but I’m learning. I love how the summer months in our garden fills with the sounds of crickets and cicadas. The chirps are insane and you can barely hear each other… the the frogs get croaking and it turns to a rhythm from one tree to the next… it’s so funny! I love how the summer months our girls hardly wear their shoes… not even flip flops… it’s like the time of the year their feet are free… and believe it or not but Isabelle (our oldest) went from a size 13 to a 3… I swear it’s because her feet get to be free. Their toes get to climb, pound on the Earth, and paddle in the sea… 

I still think about our summer…

Christmas was awesome… it always is! There are so many traditions from my youth and Mattias’ that we pull together and make our story…  our family’s story… I love it.

I think for me just sitting back and sipping it all in like a big mug of warm tea is my favorite… I love just watching my family… through my eyes… having a family of my own lets me relive my own childhood… be a kid again… I don’t think I ever really stopped… 
I love to get excited the night before Christmas with my girls… our hearts beating as we sit bundled outside listening for Santa’s sleigh… hearing it and then running inside quickly and hiding under the covers… it’s exciting, it’s magic….  and it all starts here..

Thanksgiving is the kickoff! Don’tcha think!? I love it! I love the anticipation that Christmas is getting near… I love the baking, the cooking, the candles all lit… 
Every year since I was little we wake up and watch the Macy’s Day Parade… We turn the volume up loud and pretend we are in the parade… The girls and I pretend we are the Radio City Rockettes of course… we kick our legs high and laugh so hard when Pappa tries to as well! ha! During the parade we start making the Thanksgiving dinner rolls… The girls roll them and sprinkle the seeds on top… it’s so much fun for them! Once the parade is over the buns are done, we see Santa… and it’s Christmas! 
My parents had Thanksgiving this year! It was really nice! lots of family in town! lots of food! lots of wines! it was amazing! Our traditional croquet match was played… still not so sure who won…? hmm
It was a really great Thanksgiving! So nice with so many traditions and so much family togetherness!

this is one happy little girl… 

Here we go to Georgia… our annual road trip… During the holidays with our business and life it tends to be one busy month… so usually the day after Christmas a nice little get-away is usually a good idea!
We keep it really simple… find some cabin in the middle of no where… a couple of requirements… Fireplace

on the way up we stop here and there at rest stops… the same stops I remember taking as a kid… We cook up some lunch let the kids hike and run… us too! it’s perfect!

my gosh… I think I have twins…

so finally we are settled in our cozy cabin… ready for some relaxing!

this is enough… playing games, hot chocolate, no where to be, no where to go… no schedules, no worries! just paradise!

waking slowly… filling bellies… thinking about a possible hike…

along the ride to a cool waterfall hike we just had to stop at this little side of the road store… it was so cute… all the little bird baths that had water were frozen even… fun for the girls to pop the ice and crrrrack….

hiking to me is the best! breathing in that fresh cool air… puffing out puffs of “smoke” into the forest! When we hike often we feel so little… like little wanderers in this big Earth… Remember to look up, I tell my girls… you never know what’s above… the hawks soaring… the chipmunks scampering… the ice ohhh the ice… little frozen drip drops from all of the pine branches… such different landscape for us… 

I have loved watching my little girl hikers become big girl hikers… I love how they remember to grab a dead stick pick it up and off they go… I love how proud they walk… head up looking ahead… taking it all in…
and then at last they reach the top… I see their smiles… they are so proud of what they accomplished…
and they should feel proud,
 those little legs worked so hard…

New Year’s Eve Dinner… Filet, with Bernais sauce! yes please!

She almost made it to midnight…

another day of hiking… our youngster stays close but our wild older girl likes to be alone… the leader…

winter nature is beautiful to me…

we often find little places to stop for a pause… to sit and watch things… eat some apples, sandwiches… we stay quiet so that we can listen to any birds… just take it easy.

then off we go again and again… 

back to our cabin… I loved the one we picked this year…

we found this giant lake with the coolest trails and playground next to it…

Helen, Georgia is just adorable! We have been many times but it never looses it’s charm… just little hidden gems…

even a fun gem shop… with marbles! how fun!

the morning we were leaving we woke to the most amazing tiny bed of snow! at last! it snowed! We were so happy! We had a few hours to play in the snow and just have fun!

back home we go… so many memories of such a fun little vacation!
