for 12 years now we have celebrated the Swedish Midsommar… sometimes we are in Florida… at times we are even in Sweden… but either place it’s usually an amazing night that is so special in so many ways…
It starts by me sending a little explanation of the story behind… and we actually celebrate while it’s still cool outside… but in Sweden they celebrate on the summer solstice… because it’s the longest night of the year… the sun never sets…. it’s light and it’s fantastic!
We prepare for the fest by thinking of fun seafood dishes which we like to share and ask our friends to bring their favorites… and mannnn on that night is there ever a fun collaboration of delish!!!
little Isabelle… bikini and flowers… perfect!
Midsommar is a lot about plucking flowers and making these gorgeous “krans” crowns for the girls hair… all the ladies and girlies wear them beautifully! In Sweden you will find families hiking along the grassy fields … pulled over in the country roads… in search of pretty flowers..
these girls get the hang of it…..
my little midsommar flicka…
the smells of salmon smoking and fresh dill… crown of dill… it’s the best scent and always takes me back to those Swedish summers…..
all of us Mammas with flowers in our hair…
sweet Pablo teaching Isabelle to make a crown…
Arlo… you are beautiful! sweet little boy!
it’s a night full of eating, singing Swedish Schnapps songs… and children running and playing and getting lost into their own childhood… and us adults… reliving ours….
finishing it up with a lovely dessert and coffee… and maybe a little more singing and schnapps…
seriously this is such a nice evening… a nice way to start off our summer… so many of our friend go in so many directions including ourselves over the course of summer… so it’s nice to make a strong backbone to reflect on of a fantastic evening…
Glad Midsommar Allihoppa!!! xoxoxo
