Oh my goodness I just absolutely LOVE this restaurant! Hörte! It doesn’t even feel like a restaurant… it feels like family, like home. The warmth you feel when you walk into this cozy seaside gem is like a hug. Everyone smiles, and looks so happy making what they love.
There are jars of pickled vegetable neatly arranged on shelves. Dried herbs bundled and hanging from the rafters doing their thing. Chef Isabelle is carefully with love slicing cheese and caring so much about the details.
Time stopped for us when we met this great guy here above… He is from Australia and was eagerly excited to speak with us and share all of his passion for food and good quality simple ingredients. He shared with us the different farms that they use and go to and visit, making sure that the watercress is hand picked one by one. He spoke of the rooster stew and the pickled fish that was sure to awaken our tastebuds. He spoke of where he lived in his life and what he liked about each place. He told us about his children and his love for Sweden. He never once hurried or rushed through a story but more so treated us like we were in his home and wanted us to know how much he genuinely cared…
I love sharing food with people who have a passion for great quality food… I love taking my time sinking my teeth into each delicious bite. I love warm fresh bread out of the oven that I seriously could put into my pockets to warm up my hands. I love tasting foods that I have never tasted before… What is that I taste… what did you use… how can I ever forget how this tasted….
I love that we have passed this down to our children… I love when they love something so much that they close their eyes to eat it and slowly taste it with no visual distraction just taste…
Thank you sweet Hörte for caring as much about food as we do… thank you for sharing things you know about food with us… thank you for your stories and your passion of quality. I promised them that we would be back… I cannot wait!
From there we drove on to another adorable place…. I just loved what I saw and told Mattias… “Stop! Turn Here! We have to go there!!!” We found a place to park and just walked around their marina and dipped our toes in the sea a bit…
