we always have a thing for the beach… maybe it’s because we live by the shore.. it’s always a nice vacation to visit a beach… This village we come to every summer is a beach town… it comes alive in the summertime. People passing by everywhere cramming their beach towels and flip flops in their bike baskets… bikinis drying on clotheslines… ahhh it’s summer!
look at that yummy blueberry ice cream cone sister lovin!
there is such a sweet little cafe on the beach called Fritidsbaren.. it’s lovely! an old summer cottage selling ice creams, coffee, meatballs, beer… the man who runs it has been there since Pappa Mattias was a small boy… always calling out to the guests “Hallo Hallo… then he calls your name..” it’s hilarious! we always go for a coffee and ice cream… you know a funny thing on Swedish beaches… instead of people bring water, coronas, some ice tea.. the Swedes bring thermoses of coffee and pastries, cookies… even when it’s blazing HOT! Always some cute little mugs… sweating in your bikini sipping hot coffee and eating cookies… fun idea huh! maybe it’s because that Baltic Sea is a tad on the chilly side…? 🙂
ok… if any of you are thinking to visit Sweden one day… you MUST MUST MUST have one of these at Fritidsbaren!!! amazing! I might just go there 5 more times before we leave to get my fix! they are warm, flaky, not too sweet, not to bland, just perfect… and you have to have them with a cup and saucer of hot coffee!
so this day we came a little later in the day and the chilly winds from the sea were setting in… so we needed sweaters…
love the beach roses!
love the rosehips! they make something called Nypon Soupa … a creamy, sweet, dessert soup served with cream drizzle and little coconut cookies… yummmmmmm!!!!
this says “Childhood” to me… wild, fun, carefree goodness… every time I see this image I smile!!!
