I’m pretty happy I married a Swede… for so many reasons…
but gosh I love Lucia!
This tradition is beautiful… I mean really… what other holiday do you get to have real fire on top of your head and SING!
now our girls love these traditions just as much as I do!
I love holidays I love everything about celebrations!
I love the anticipation the happiness… the planning… the decorating… mannnnn I was born to celebrate!
since having children it has multiplied my excitement for holidays and celebrations times… hmm… a million!
oh ps… don’t you just love it when your kids leave you a tiny bit of juicebox on the coffee table… just a little slurp… ok back to holidays!
bam! that’s the face! those smiles… make it worth it! make all the prep… the setting… the staying up late to iron pretty white linen dresses… that’s what it’s worth! those dimples of pure … oh my gosh I’m so happy mamma… kind of happiness!
at Lucia you have to have sweets… and glögg! glögg my friends… is something else! even in Florida! you get a feel of winter! warming your souls until you can feel Christmas! the warm mug of spiced wine…. raisins sinking and almonds floating… the perfect balance!
kid tested… ginger thins… so good mamma!
so at our oldest girl’s school they had a little store set up thingie before school let out for a fundraiser at school… Isabelle did all of our shopping there… let me tell you the treasures she shopped! it was seriously taking everything she could to not tell us what she got us… but yes, her little sister surely got to open her little special green frog from big sister! If you could just see that face of wow, thank you big sister… it melted me to the core! and the return look from big sis… of I love you you’re welcome… the end! sweetest thing ever!
but not as sweet as my gift… a fairy AND unicorn snow globe… it will look perfect on my night stand and yes, I sure will turn it to make it snow EVERY morning!!!
so green frog got to go everywhere this winter!
she got her medal! all of those early morning Saturdays and Tuesday evening practices paid off! she got her medal! what a day… cheeks so happy like little apples!
and she scored 2 goals… REAL goals! She stuck with soccer and loved it! and that makes us pretty happy!

in these cooler months here in Florida… don’t start… it is nice and chilly at night! and we love it! and yes, we know we are so lucky! and yes, we do have a big orange tree that is in our backyard full of maybe a hundred bright orange juicy gems ready for picking next week we think! but these months are our favorites!
so much bike riding! we live pretty close to town and the marina and the beach… and gosh just hop on the bike and take the back scenic routes and you’re there with no stress!
so we road to the boat parade with some friends we have met from school that happen to be neighbors a few blocks from here…
the kids climbed up the banyan trees to the rooftop for the BEST view ever… but for us really… I’m pretty sure this was the best view… I mean look at that moonlight!
